Narek Aghajanyan (b. 1980, Yerevan, Armenia) is a visual artist based in Stockholm, Sweden.
Educated at Yerevan State Fine Art Academy (BFA, MFA), Aghajanyan works primarily with painting and mixed media. His practice explores the intersections of symbolism, materiality, memory, and the psychological dimensions of human experience.
Drawing upon archetypal imagery, alchemical symbolism, dreams, and personal mythology, his works investigate the relationship between inner and outer realities. Organic materials such as burlap, pigments, bone glue, and found elements play an essential role in the process, carrying both physical presence and symbolic meaning.
Rather than illustrating fixed narratives, the paintings emerge through a dialogue between material, image, and intuition. Houses, vessels, landscapes, and other recurring motifs become containers for questions of belonging, transformation, vulnerability, and the search for meaning.
Aghajanyan has participated in numerous exhibitions in Sweden and internationally. His work continues to develop through distinct series and ongoing explorations of dream imagery, symbolic forms, and the transformative potential of painting.
